Services Available
Services Central Kentucky CAC provides include:

• 202 Housing for the Elderly and Disabled – Income based rental apartments for seniors
• Backpack Program – Provides food for children at nutritional risk in six counties
• Community Collaborations for Children (CCC) – Promotes the safety, wellbeing, and stability of children
and families through supervised visitation, family team meetings, in-home intervention, and parenting education
• Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) – Provides services to address poverty based on community need
• Day Care – Day care services provided for low-income workers
• Energy Assistance – Subsidy/Crisis Programs help maintain family stability
• Family Day Care Homes – Provides training/technical assistance to ensure nutritionally balanced meals
are provided
• Family Preservation/Family Reunification – Case management to enable families to remain intact
• FEMA Emergency Assistance – Agency provides response and recovery planning for disasters
• Food Banks
• Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) – Provides assistance with emergency rent/mortgage and
utilities
• Head Start – Provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to
low-income children and their families
• Homeless Assistance through Supportive Housing – Provides assistance for rent/utility deposits and first
month’s rent for homeless families
• Homeless Prevention Assistance – Assists families who have suffered a sudden reduction in income with
rent/mortgage and/or utilities to prevent eviction or disconnection
• Kentucky Housing Counseling – Provides case management to tenants
• Kentucky Senior Medicare Patrol – Empowers seniors to prevent Medicare abuse and fraud through
education and advocacy programs
• Kentucky Works – Assists TANF/K-TAP recipients in obtaining employment through job training and
placement; provides Job Readiness training for participants
• Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) – Matches volunteers ages 55 and over with a wide variety
of volunteer opportunities
• Senior Citizens Centers - Provides seniors with socialization, recreation, exercise programs, and
nutritious meals
• Senior Citizens Transportation – Participants have access to dependable/affordable transportation
• Senior Commodity Programs – Provides free food boxes to 800 elderly persons per month
• Senior Companion Program – Provides a stipend to low-income seniors to provide respite care for peers
• State Health Insurance Program – Provides prescriptions at a reduced cost
• Transportation Services: Fort Knox – General public/participants have access to dependable/affordable
transportation
• Weatherization – Winterizes homes to lower energy consumption and heating costs
• WinterCare – Assists those in need with their utility bills
• Winterhelp – Assists those in need with their utility bills
