Community Action of Southern Kentucky

Community Action of Southern Kentucky, Inc., is a public non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation. Federal state, and local government funding, private contributions, and user fees enable the Agency to provide a comprehensive range of human services to residents in the Barren River area, especially those confronting issues of poverty.

 

Service Area: Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, and Warren

Services Available
Services Community Action of Southern Kentucky provides include:

• Access To Visitation – Provides support and facilitates non-custodial parents’ access to and visitation of their children
• Adult Education and Job Development Services – Provides basic tutoring, computer classes, and job development
• Child Care – Provides a clean and safe environment for age appropriate education
• Community Collaborations for Children (CCC) – Promotes the safety, wellbeing, and stability of children and families through supervised visitation, family team meetings, in-home intervention, and parenting education
• Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) – Provides services to address poverty based on community need
• Demand Side Management – Creates/develops energy conservation programs through partnerships
• Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) – Emergency food and housing services
• Energy Assistance – Subsidy/Crisis Programs help maintain family stability
• Family Preservation/Family Reunification – Case management to enable families to remain intact
• Food Service – Provides unified food service for all agency operations
• Foster Grandparent Program – Volunteer program for seniors to provide assistance to youth
• Head Start – Provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families
• Healthy Marriage – Provides relationship enhancement curriculum to individuals/families to improve family functioning
• Public Transportation – Go bg transit provides dependable/affordable transportation for Bowling Green
• Refugee Employment Program – Provides employment enhancement and job development services to refugees in Warren County
• Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) – Matches volunteers ages 55 and over with a wide variety of volunteer opportunities
• Senior Citizens Centers - Provides seniors with socialization, recreation, exercise programs, and nutritious meals
• Sharing the Warmth – Provides assistance to income eligible customers of Atmos Energy with home heating costs
• Supportive Housing – Assists homeless individuals/families to achieve residential stability
• Transportation – Provides services for agency program participants and other special contract services
• Warm Hearts – Provides assistance to income eligible customers of Warren Rural Electric and Farmers Rural Electric with home heating costs
• Weatherization – Winterizes homes to lower energy consumption and heating costs
• WinterCare – Assists those in need with their utility bills
