LKLP Community Action Council

The Leslie Knott Letcher Perry Community Action Council, Inc., is a private non-profit organization, serving the Kentucky counties of Leslie, Knott, Letcher and Perry. It is designed to be a community action service and planning agency, to develop to the fullest potential the human and natural resources in the four county area. Although the Council's primary focus is the poor, it seeks to actively and substantially involve all segments of the community, in an effort to alleviate the distress of poverty.

Services Available
Services LKLP CAC provides include:

• Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CFSP) for seniors
• Community Collaborations for Children (CCC) – Promotes the safety, wellbeing, and stability of children and families through supervised visitation, family team meetings, in-home intervention, and parenting education
• Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) – Provides services to address poverty based on community need
• Compassionate Hearts Adult Day Health – Provides a safe and socially stimulating environment, offering caregivers an alternative to nursing home care for their loved ones
• Demand Side Management – Creates/develops energy conservation programs through partnerships
• Employment Services – Helps participants secure and maintain meaningful employment
• Energy Assistance – Subsidy/Crisis Programs help maintain family stability
• FEMA Emergency Assistance – Provides response and recovery planning for disasters
• Head Start – Provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families
• Healthy Marriage – Provide relationship enhancement curriculum to individuals/families to improve family functioning
• Home Care - Provides in-home services to increase the independence of those who are home-bound or at high risk of nursing home placement
• Housing Programs – New construction and rehabilitation
• Nutrition Services – Provides nutritionally balanced meals to senior citizens through congregate and home delivery services
• Self-Help – Teaches parents more and/or better parenting skills
• Spouse Abuse – Provides a safe temporary shelter for victims of domestic violence and their dependent children
• Transportation – Provides access to dependable/affordable transportation
• Victims of Crime Assistance (VOCA) – Offers counseling services to adults and children who suffer emotional and/or physical trauma because of criminal acts
• Weatherization – Winterizes homes to lower energy consumption and heating costs
• WinterCare – Assists those in need with their utility bills
• Workforce Investment Act: Adult, Youth, and Dislocated Worker Services – Employment, training, adult education, and vocational rehabilitation programs
