Northeast Kentucky Community Action Agency

Northeast Kentucky Community Action Agency, Inc (NEKCAA), a non-profit Community Action Agency, is proud to say that we are making a difference in the lives of so many people in our service area. We are currently successful in programs of education, job training, social services and many other endeavors that are making our citizens more self-sufficient. We are now addressing social problems and barriers that were in the past unapproachable. Our goal is to assist our clients to break away from a cycle of poverty, a situation that many have lived in all their lives, and aid them to gain a sense of achievement and build self-reliance.

Services Available
Services Northeast Kentucky CAA provides include:

• Child Care Resource and Referral – Provides a list of qualified child care providers to parents and provides training for providers
• Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) – Provides services to address poverty based on community need
• Demand Side Management – Creates/develops energy conservation programs through partnerships
• Carter County Community Services for Help – Provides assistance for various documented emergencies
• Community Collaborations for Children (CCC) – Promotes the safety, wellbeing, and stability of children and families through supervised visitation, family team meetings, in-home intervention, and parenting education
• Housing Rehabilitation – Assists home owners with the cost burden of improving the health, safety and sanitary conditions of their home through needed repairs
• Energy Assistance – Subsidy/Crisis Programs help maintain family stability
• Head Start – Provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families
• Northeast Catering – Prepares meals for the homecare, Title III, and Head Start programs
• Rural Transportation System – Participants have access to dependable/affordable transportation
• Weatherization – Winterizes homes to lower energy consumption and heating costs
• WinterCare – Assists those in need with their utility bills
• Workforce Investment Act: Adult, Youth, and Dislocated Worker Services – Employment, training, adult education, and vocational rehabilitation programs
