Employment and Education Services

Community Action understands that to become self-sufficient employment plays an important role.  To allow low-income individuals to become self-sufficent, they need to be able to obtain employment that will allow them to provide for their family.  Community Action will work with individuals, communities, employers and policy makers to give every individual the chance for a living wage to be able to pay for basic needs.  Community Action Agencies

  • work swith community leaders to attract employers who will hire local workers and pay them a living wage
  • develop and operate job training programs to get workers the skills they need to find employment and remain employed
  • provide General Employment Services such as assisting individuals in obtaining jobs by referring them to hiring companies, assisting them with preparing resumees or suggest ingother employment alternatives
  • provide Title 1 Workforce Investment Act (WIA) services
  • provide Adult and Dislocated Worker Servics and Youth Services
  • have WIA One-Stop Center 
  • be involved with Job Corps 

Since many time education levels are hindering individuals to receive employment opportunities needed to move out of poverty, Community Action is helping individuals and families to move beyond the education obstacle.  Community Action will:

  • administer and operate childhood education programs like Head Start, Early Start
  • provide as adult education programs
  • assist individuals to enroll in outside education programs
  • help individuals to set up goals and help them work towards such

Another important part of individuals becoming self-sufficient is to provide them with tools that help them to become financially sound.  Community Action helps people and families to stabilize their finances through asset building programs such as
